Let me first start this post by saying that I have had a hell of a time trying to figure out the new image posting on WordPress, and I am not fully sure that I have it down.  Which explains my absence.

I love this poster from Obey and pretty much all work by Shepard Fairey [who has found himself in some legal trouble as of late].  However, this poster makes me think of a quote by Kurt Vonnegut:

“When it became obvious what a dumb and cruel and spiritually and financially and militarily ruinous mistake our war in Vietnam was, every artist worth a damn in this country, every serious writer, painter, stand-up comedian, musician, actor and actress, you name it, came out against the thing. We formed what might be described as a laser beam of protest, with everybody aimed in the same direction, focused and intense. I freaking love that.  I’m not writing this to make any political statement except that I tend to be annoyed by artists who are politically motivated.  Sure, we all cannot help but live out our political ideals in SOME FASHION, SOMETIMES through our art….but if you honestly think that your [art medium of choice] is going to change the world, you need to not take yourself so seriously.  It would be a better use of time and more enjoyable for everyone to find inspiration elsewhere.

I loved the new blog platform but am still undecided.

The new photo uploader for WordPress is infuriating.

This may not be forever, but I am trying this new platform for my blogging.   So far I am leaning toward making a switch.  So change my name in your feeders!  For atleast a week!

I could tell that it was Fall a few weeks ago when I walked out my front door and took in a breath of fresh air.  But now the leaves are more than stunning, they are amazing.  I have got to get out there tomorrow and take some photos!

A movie that rivals Little Miss Sunshine [my absolute favorite movie of all time]?  I may have found it.  The Brothers Bloom is a movie that was (to my knowledge) limited release.  The Grand Cinema was playing it here in Tacoma, but it never worked out for me to go see the movie while in theaters.  Anyway, I found out this morning that it was out on DVD and I ran my ass down to my favorite tiny little indie kid video store and rented it.  I laughed until I cried, people.  Go rent it.

Please tell me there is going to be a book on Man Shops Globe!  I am not much a TV watcher (I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love TV…I just don’t have cable), so I’d likely miss this if it were not for iTunes. . . 

Keith Johnson really does have the best job in the world.  Who would not kill to be a buyer for Anthropologie?  I really cannot wait to see this series.

It has been years….YEARS since I have seen a Hitchcock film.  Which is odd because he was a brilliant director and these movies should be like staples in my house next to Shawn of the Dead or Little Miss Sunshine.  

What amazes me so much about his movies is that they are still — to this day — eerie.  While you may giggle a little when they attempt to dramatize the dream scenes with monochromatic color overlays in flashing motion, you have to admit that by the end of the film you were genuinely moved.

As for a little eye candy…I’ve pulled up some stills and storyboards via the interwebs.  

The movie is set in San Francisco, which of course made me oh-so-happy since I am visiting there for the first time next week!

Seeing Jimmy Stewart in a movie was like going back in time for me and hearing his voice made me so nostalgic.  I was very much into classic films in highschool (I never claimed to be cool), so I honestly got a tiny bit teary eyed when he started talking.  It was like hearing a family member’s voice when you are homesick.

I love the color in this scene.  Bravo.

And who wouldn’t just adore his friend’s studio?

I am planning a road trip from Seattle down to Sacramento/SF area in just a few short weeks.  I really cannot contain my excitement…the cold weather is coming in and I need a change of scenery for a few days.  Be sure to give me some pointers if you know the area(s), or the route down I-5.  Last time I took this road trip, I got very excited about doing it during a time that I was not rushed and could stop along the way.  I am doing exactly that.

I’ve made some amazing thrift store purchases this week and I am super giddy to share them.  Evidently, I look pretty exhausted this week.  So no promises.  I did manage to put on my Stepford Wife apron and produce some kickass chili for “chili cookoff” last night.  You know you’re getting old when…
