I was on this site looking for practical handbags, and this is what I came up with. [so.not.practical.]

We made it to one evening of Bumbershoot last weekend and sneakily got into the “sold-out” main stage show (Stone Temple Pilots). Great show. I only had a few minutes to browse the poster art exhibit, which is probably a good thing because I *could* have spent HOURS in there. SO much talent, let me tell you. I ended up buying a print by Gary Houston of Portland. It was perfect because I have been looking for some Mexican Folk Art for my kitchen and his style is very reminicent of this, plus he has quite the sense of humor. He does not have my particular poster on his site, but just to give you an example of his work. . .

Perhaps I will “get my act together” and post a photo of the framed piece when I get the kitchen decorated.

I live real close to Seattle….music capital of the country. But I have to say that there are some fine artists coming out of my hometown, Atlanta. I have always enjoyed the music community there and was real happy to receive this CD in the mail earlier this month. If you have not heard of Meghan Coffee, you should visit her website and listen in. My favorite from her record “Songs to Sail By”
is the song “Jericho.”
Let me know what you think.

What can I say? I’m a fan. [And I'm the whitest girl I know.] This book is for any white person who can laugh at themselves…okay, and any person who likes a good laugh at the expense of white culture. It’s funny because…it’s true. I had read the entire blog to my family and friends and nearly squealed when I found the book on the “Staff Recommended” aisle at Elliott Bay Book Co. this weekend. I don’t normally buy books (other than cookbooks), but I couldn’t pass this one up. You absolutely must take a read.

…and if you can’t rush to your local Barnes and Noble RIGHT AWAY….take a peek at one of my favorite entries…
…A few photos that I took during our frantic house search. You know how it is, look at ten houses in a day and take sporadic photos of things in each house. I had to dig through hundreds of other photos to find these…
the living room and fire place. your first view upon entering the front door.
windows, nasty window treatments and wonderful baseboard heating units. [ha.]

view into kitchen and hallway.

gotta love me some 1980s kitchen wallpaper.

yum. so retro. orange blinds and everything. the kitchen cabinets are metal. yes, you did read that right. i said METAL.

completley useless space. it will be a miracle if we can find a way to make this work.

i actually really love the deep sink. it’s the pink tiles that i’m not so excited about. [whoever lived here previously must have been totally lit when they decorated. everything was a different shade of pink.]

i’m not even going to try to redeem this photo. the orange cast gives you a great idea of what the lighting is really like [the bathroom is our very next project.]

this is our bedroom. which is literally a bed – room since we have a california king bed!

the guest room. it’s actually a little bigger than it looks here, i promise.

heading upstairs to the attic (spooky.). this area will eventually become a master bedroom suite with bathroom and a freaking huge closet [because we will "deserve" one].

our future bedroom. [pre-renovation!]

this is our basement. which is where we believed the “magic happened.”
